Ban Mian

Originated from Hakka Chinese.

In the clear broth, there is a widely kneaded noodle made of eggs which is similar to Korean Kal-guksu.

Put vegetables, minced meat, eggs in the soup and decorate with salty anchovies, that’s it.

Sometimes shrimp or mushrooms are included.

 

The photo was taken at a restaurant on the 5th floor of City Plaza near Paya Lebar MRT station.

It is one of the best Ban Mian restaurant in Singapore.

Murtabak

Pajeon? or Pancake? from Middle East, which can be easily seen at Indian restaurants in Singapore.

Mutton, eggs and onions in the pancake, somewhat delicious if served with curry dipping sauce.

Han’s Bak Kut Teh, ECP

There are many famous shops inside, and today let’s visit Han’s Bak Kut Teh.

 

As the name tells, Bak Kut Teh is their main menu and has a good taste.

But, a number of Bak Kut Teh masters, including the Founder Bak Kut Teh, are competing against each other in Singapore.

Unfortunately, it is hard to find out what’s so special about them as compared to other competitors.

 

However, there was a hidden menu for this house, that is the Pig’s trotter seen in the picture.

Unlike the Korean counterpart, the trotter comes out in full and boasts a unique fragrance with various spices.

Use chopsticks to pick up the collagen-packed pork skin with the lean meat at the appropriate ratio between these two parts, dip it in the special sauce, we are falling into illusion that our skin is getting better.

Sushi Tei

Today, let’s take a look at Sushi Tei in Paragon, a shopping mall in Orchard road.

 

People wait in line for lunch on weekends.

 

Paragon store is good because it is spacious and has plenty of seating.

Like other Japanese restaurants, you can also sit in the counter seats.

 

Try to order Unagi, Zaru Soba and one of the various sushi sets.

Although the price is not cheap, you can get away from the usual oily food in Singapore.

Whenever I want to eat light food, I tend to visit a sushi house.

Founder Bak Kut Teh, Balestier Road

Bak Kut Teh is a food similar to Galbi-tang in Korea.

In Chinese, it is written as 肉骨茶 (Meat Bone Tea).

Founder shop of this famous food is Founder Bak Kut Teh located on Balestier Road.

 

The person in the picture is the founder of the famous Bak Kut Teh.

You can also feel his greatness with lots of pictures of celebrities all over the wall.

Those famous visitors include well-known actors and singers such as Chow Yun-fat, Kwai Lun-Mei and Jay Chou.

 

The standard order from me whenever I make a visit here.

It means Fried Rice in Indonesian language.

Put cooking oil in the pan and add rice, soy sauce, garlic, tamarind, chili and fry them.

Some variations include egg, chicken or shrimp in the frying pan.

The favourite version of the locals is that with Ikan Bilis (anchovies).

Lor Mee

This is local food that tourists are not so familiar with.

Lor mee has thick soup, broad noodle like Korean Kal-guksu, fish cake, eggs and meat.

To enjoy its best taste, add some vinegar, chopped garlic and chili sauce and mix well.

Cupcake house opened by Singaporean celebrity couple Daniel and Jaime in 2011.

However, following their divorce, the business was sold to Indian tea company in 2017.

As the name implies, it is a place to sell 12 types of cupcakes, which are loved by many women.

There are more than 40 stores in Singapore, and some oversea stores in Hong Kong and Jakarta.

Nakhon Kitchen, Hougang

The Thai restaurant located in Hougang, where long queue lines up even before the shop opens.

My recommendations include Tom Yam Seafood (Clear Base), Pad Thai, Pandan Chicken and Mango Salad.
